Cornell announces Associate Vice President and Chief Procurement Officer

Michael Henderson has been appointed as Cornell’s Associate Vice President and Chief Procurement Officer, effective Tuesday, Jan. 20.
This new role provides unified procurement leadership across all university campuses as Cornell designs a more streamlined, sustainable, and strategic procurement model. Henderson will lead sourcing, vendor management, and cost‑optimization efforts at an enterprise scale, supporting the Resilient Cornell goals to simplify procurement activities and reduce spending.
A graduate of the Cornell Johnson Graduate School of Management, Henderson brings nearly two decades of experience in procurement transformation, strategic sourcing, supply chain management, and organizational redesign. Most recently, he served as Chief Procure‑to‑Pay Officer at Northeastern University, transforming procurement and accounts payable operations for a $2.5 billion global institution. Prior to Northeastern, Henderson held senior leadership roles at Dell Technologies, along with extensive procurement consulting experience with Deloitte, Grant Thornton, and Booz Allen Hamilton.
